Lauren White

Professional Dog Trainer in Loudoun County, Northern Virginia

Helping Northern Virginia dog owners build calm, confident relationships with their dogs.

Lauren White is a professional dog trainer with 11 years of experience, specializing in relationship-centered, psychology-driven training methods. After transforming her own dog’s challenging behavior through intensive study at Cesar Millan’s Dog Psychology Center, she founded Furever K9 to help other owners in Loudoun County and Northern Virginia achieve the same peaceful, balanced relationship with their dogs. Her approach focuses on clear communication, calm energy, and personalized coaching to address issues from leash reactivity to puppy development.

Lauren’s Story: From Frustrated Dog Owner to Professional Trainer

Lauren White’s journey into dog training did not begin in a classroom or with a certification. It began at home, navigating daily life with her own dog and feeling completely overwhelmed. For seven long years, Lauren struggled with her Boston Terrier, Addie Mae. Addie Mae was sweet, energetic, and challenging, earning the affectionate nickname “the Rotten Beast.” Like many dog owners, Lauren loved her dog deeply but felt stuck in a cycle of chaos, frustration, and self-doubt. Eventually, she realized something had to change.

That turning point came when Lauren won a trip to attend a five-day intensive course at The Dog Psychology Center in California. The experience proved to be life-changing. Under the guidance of experienced trainers, Lauren had a powerful realization. Addie Mae was not the problem. The real issue was a lack of clear communication, consistency, and calm leadership. Lauren learned that dogs respond to the emotional energy and clarity of the human guiding them, and that lasting behavior change begins with self-awareness.

When Lauren returned home and applied what she had learned, the transformation with Addie Mae was immediate. Communication improved. Tension faded. Their relationship shifted from frustration to trust. That experience sparked a deeper calling. Lauren recognized her own story in other dog owners who felt overwhelmed and unsure where to turn. Determined to help, she immersed herself in continued education, traveling extensively to learn from respected trainers across the country. Each experience strengthened her understanding of dog psychology, behavior, and real-life training applications.

What began as a small in-home training service, originally offered in exchange for donations to a local children’s cancer charity, quickly grew through word of mouth. Lauren founded Furever K9 to serve families in Loudoun County, and demand soon outpaced her home-based operation. After expanding once, then outgrowing that space as well, Lauren brought her long-held vision to life. In October 2024, Furever K9 opened its 9,500-square-foot Resort and Training Center on 7.5 acres in Leesburg, Virginia. Today, Lauren and her team help families across Northern Virginia move from conflict to calm by rebuilding the human-dog relationship from the ground up.

My Philosophy

At Furever K9, our philosophy is simple but powerful: we create healthy relationships between humans and canines. We believe that working on the relationship is the key foundation to training. Every dog that comes into our facility will be treated as we would want our personal dogs treated. This isn’t just a slogan—it’s how we operate every single day.

I love what I do because I get to help other people who are struggling with their dogs’ behaviors, just as I once was. And here’s a little secret: I like people as much as I like dogs. The transformation I see in families—the relief, the joy, the renewed confidence—is what drives me. When an owner realizes they can lead their dog with calm, stable energy, and when they see their dog respond with trust and respect, that’s when the real magic happens.

Multiple Dogs, One Trusted Trainer

This family came to Furever K9 with three very different dogs, each with their own personality, challenges, and adjustment needs. What worked for one dog clearly would not work for another, and the owner wanted a trainer who could adapt instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

From the start, Lauren assessed each dog individually and customized her training strategy based on temperament, behavior patterns, and the household dynamic. Drawing on her extensive background and ongoing education, she applied different proven methods as needed, always focusing on clear communication and realistic progress for each dog.

Over time, all three dogs showed meaningful improvement, each in a way that fit who they were as individuals. The owner felt confident knowing their dogs were being trained thoughtfully, not forced into a rigid system. That level of care and adaptability made Furever K9 a trusted resource for the entire household.

“Lauren is an excellent trainer. She has worked with three of our dogs, all of who have had very different personalities and behavioral adjustment needs. She customizes her approach based on each dog to great results. Her background and training (and on-going commitment to learning) allow her to utilize several different proven methods depending on the situation. I would recommend Furever K9 and Lauren for any dog training needs!”

From Reactive Walks to Calm Neighborhood Outings

This family enrolled their dog in a three-week Board and Train program after struggling with reactivity toward other dogs and people during walks. Neighborhood outings felt tense and unpredictable, and managing behavior at home was becoming increasingly difficult.

During the Board and Train program, Lauren focused on building structure, clarity, and consistency in both on-leash and at-home behavior. Alongside addressing reactivity, the training emphasized practical skills the family could continue using at home, including the “place” command to create calm and boundaries indoors. Just as important, the owners learned how and when to apply these techniques themselves so progress would carry over beyond the program.

After training, walks became noticeably easier and more manageable. The dog showed improved focus and responsiveness, and the family felt more confident handling everyday situations. With follow-up one-on-one sessions included, they felt supported in maintaining the results and continuing their dog’s progress long term.

“Furever K9 did a very good job training our dog during a 3-week board and train program. Prior to training, our dog would sometimes be aggressive to other dogs and people during walks. Now, when we take her on neighborhood walks, it is much easier to manage her. We have learned how to effectively use the “place” command in our home. The key is using at home the commands and techniques which our dog became accustomed to while being trained by Furever K9. We will also take advantage of the one-on-one follow-up training sessions which are part of the board and train package. We highly recommend Lauren at Furever K9 if you need someone to train your dog.”

From Pulling and Begging to Calm, Enjoyable Walks

This family came to Furever K9 looking for help with everyday manners that were affecting life at home and on walks. Their four-year-old Maltipoo struggled with pulling on the leash and begging for food, making walks frustrating and mealtimes disruptive.

During the very first training session, Lauren focused on clear boundaries and practical guidance the owner could apply immediately. The approach emphasized calm communication and consistency rather than complicated commands, helping the dog understand expectations quickly.

The results were noticeable right away. That same evening, the dog stayed at a respectful distance during meals and stopped begging. Walks also felt completely different, becoming calm and enjoyable without constant pulling. For the owner, these immediate wins made a lasting impression and reinforced confidence in the training process.

“The training we received for my four year old maltipoo resulted in immediate wins. The evening of our first training, our dog kept distance and did not beg for food. It’s also the first walk we’ve enjoyed without him pulling. Highly recommend Lauren’s expertise.”
